MYSTERY MIND – BIOGRAPHY
Both a passionate, demanding musician and guitar teacher, Nicolas is very keen on composing and experimenttion.
He has notably forged his musical identity throught infuences which are diverse as ’70s rock ( Led Zeppeling, Pink Floyd, Deep Purple), instrumental rock (Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Yngwie Malmsteen), metal (Dream theater, Megadeth, Metallica), classical (Bach, Vivaldi, Prokofiev, Ennio Morricone), or flamenco guitar (Paco de Lucia).
Ultimate rock singer, Miss Dey has been singing since the age of 3.
After performing in Paris and the French Riviera, she joined Mystery Mind in 2011.
Her influences are as diverse as Janis Joplin, Brody Dalle, Nina Simone, Rita Marley.
Marjolaine was 7 when she entered the conservatory in the cello class. She also studied baroque dance, singing, drama and music therapy.
She now teaches cello, and enjoys working with artists from different backgrounds.
Marjolaine has a great passion for 19th century composers (Schumman, Schubert, Chopin), the Russian school (Rachmaninov, Borodine, Tchaïkovsky) and the dissonances and virtuosity in baroque music ( Vivaldi, Bach).
On the other hand, she likes to listen to Magma, Edith Piaf or Earth, Wind and Fire.
Pierre has a great passion for progressive jazz-rock and spent several years studying the rhythms inherent in this style.
His main influence is Gavin Harrison (drummer of Porcupine Tree), and his playing is precise and nuanced, subtle, even when he approaches more punchy styles.
Rock/Jazz/Fuison sensibility : Pat’s playing has been greatly influenced by artists such as Marcus Miller, Alin Caron, Jaco Pastorieus, Victor Wooten, Flea, Muse, Skunk Anansie, Ello e le Storie Tese, Gustavo Beyrelmann.
Pat doesn’t limit himself to the classical 4-string electric fretted bass, he also enjoys playing fretless, 5 string or double bass.
Founded in 2010 by the guitarist and song writer Nicolas Morel, the Mystery Mind project develops a very melodic progressive rock universe that is both complex and accessible, mixing influences of the 70′s (Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Rush, Deep Purple), classical (Bach, Vivaldi, Prokofiev) and rock/metal (Dream Theater, Metallica, Joe Satriani, Steve Vai).
The way the band is composed reflects perfectly well the mix of various genres thanks to the deep voice of a female rock singer blending with the tone of the mezzo-soprano opera singer, the virtuosity and profound feeling of a guitarist accompanied by the enchanting sound of a classical cellist and the foolproof expertise of a bass/drums section in the background.
The band has given birth to sublime albums full of power, sweetness, melody and sensitiveness with a succession of parts either sung or instrumental, accoustic or electric. At the end you only wish you could listen to it in a continuous loop.
